National Anthem of Ukraine for Piano Solo

Marianne Kim’s unique style is applied to this National Anthem of Ukraine and her harmonies blend both jazz and classical elements to create rich and expressive harmonies.

Ukrainian national anthem (Šče ne vmerla Ukrajiny , in English: Ukraine Is Not Yet Perished). The lyrics of the national anthem of Ukraine constitute a slightly modified version of the first stanza of a patriotic poem written in 1862 by the poet Pavlo Chubynsky, a prominent ethnographer from Kyiv. In 1863, Mykhailo Verbytsky, a western Ukrainian composer and Greek-Catholic priest, composed music to accompany Chubynsky’s text.

National Anthem of Ukraine

Ukraine’s glory hasn’t perished, nor freedom, nor will.
Upon us, fellow kin, fate shall smile once more.

Our enemies will vanish, like dew in the morning sun,
And we too shall rule, brothers, in a free land of our own.

We’ll lay down our souls and bodies to attain our freedom,
And we’ll show that we, brothers, are of the Kozak line.
